News and Events

Service Times

As from Sunday 7th September 2014, our Services will be held as usual on alternate Sundays in Kelton and Auchencairn Churches, with services starting at 9.30am.  Services at our linked church, Castle Douglas Parish Church, will start at 11.00am.

New Parish Profile!

Now that Castle Douglas and Bengairn Parishes have been given the green light to invite applications for the Vacant Linked Charge, the first steps have been taken, with the crafting of a new Parish Profile, which is available to potential applicants in a variety of publications and adverts.

The joint Nominating Committee has done a truly excellent job in crafting a comprehensive (and accurate) overview of the Charge - hopefully this will encourage interest, enquiries and..........applications!

Auchencairn Church Fabric Problems

Possibly as a result of the sustained period of below freezing temperatures a few weeks ago, a section of plaster has fallen from the apex at the chancel end of Auchencairn church.  The concern is that there may be other sections of plaster also close to dropping point, so in the interests of safety the sad but inevitable decision has been taken to suspend access for services until the extent of the problem - and hopefully its speedy resolution - can be assessed.

This assessment will get under way this week (3rd April), and appropriate updates will be posted here.

Update 7th May

Great news - the (extensive) repairs are finished and the church is now reopen for us all to enjoy!!

The first Auchencairn service this month is on Sunday 13th May, at 0930.  By lucky coincidence, this will be our first chance to meet and listen to Rev. Alison Burnside, who will be preaching at both Auchencairn and Castle Douglas Parish Church on that Sunday, as the Sole Nominee for the vacant charge of the Bengairn Parishes linked with Castle Douglas.

All are most welcome to attend, and if you are a member on the Electoral Register, you will be asked to vote in terms of the Nomination.

In the meantime please note that  Auchencairn- scheduled services on will be held at Kelton, until at least early May - the Worship Times page will be the point of reference as matters progress.

Wine and Savouries Evening! Friday 8th June.

By kind invitation of Mrs. Brownie Wright, a Wine and Savouries evening will be held at Airieland Farmhouse on Friday 8th June, between 7 and 9 pm.  This is a great chance to get together with friends - old and new - in beautiful and relaxed surroundings.  Weather (of some sort) guaranteed.  Anyone wanting to contribute 'savouries', please let Brownie know.
