Service Times

As from Sunday 7th September 2014, our Services will be held as usual on alternate Sundays in Kelton and Auchencairn Churches, with services starting at 9.30am.  Services at our linked church, Castle Douglas Parish Church, will start at 11.00am.

Prayers for Sri Lanka

Following the terrible bombings in Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday, Alison has been in contact with the Session Clerk at St. Andrew's Church of Scotland in Sri Lanka, also with the Sri Lankan Presbytery, in order to offer our love and prayers for all those affected.

At the Bengairn Parishes' morning service on Sunday 28th April, all those in attendance wrote individual prayers and thoughts, which were affixed to a cross at the Communion Table.

Easter Sunday Celebrations!

In addition to our formal services on Easter Sunday this year, celebrants and insomniacs were able to join in worship at two very special outdoor gatherings!

First, an ecumenical service on the banks of Carlingwark Loch, Castle Douglas, at 0545, where we were not only blessed with good weather, but had our singing beautifully accompanied by a 'dawn chorus' of calling ducks and drumming woodpeckers!  Hopefully this event will grow and grow in years to come!

Then, at 0800, we gathered once more at the wonderfully evocative Kirkland of Gelston, for a short service of readings and hymns.  This is the 28th consecutive year of this gathering, always a lovely way to celebrate Easter Sunday, whatever the weather has to test us with!  This year, it was perfect!
